Noted local artist and GCWCS long-time member passed away in February of this year. She is proceeded in death by her husband and high school sweetheart, Richard Nichols, with whom she raised 3 sons and a daughter. Originally from the north, Dot and her husband retired to Pawleys Island where she studied with Bruce Chandler and Alex Powers, and continued to attend workshops around the country, including one with nationally acclaimed artist, Mary Whyte. Dorothy M. Dixon, 1929 - 2019
With sadness we note the passing of our fellow artist, Dorothy (Dottie) Dixon. A long-standing member of the Georgetown County Watercolor Society, Dottie was a prolific watercolorist. She was a member of the Georgetown Art Gallery and displayed her artistic talent over the years in various local and regional art venues. Those who knew her well spoke to her upbeat and positive personality and how these charastics were reflected in her work. As well, Dottie was a generous artist, often donating her charming Folk Art paintings to local charity auctions.
